Choc Cake Deco Class

Today is Valerie's 4th cooking class with Genius R Us... it was supposedly her last lesson but Violet will be giving us an extra lesson to compensate us for the empty trip we made last time :p

She was excited as usual, chatty and stuff. We did our cake together with a 10 year old Indonesian girl and it was quite fun. Our cake turned out quite well (it actually tasted quite good!) and Valerie & myself each has a cake to decorate :)

As u can see, spreadin cream & pipping is definitely no easy task!

Cupcakes Galore!

This is the 3rd cooking class Valerie has attend with Genius R Us. We had a really small class today, just us with Yvonne & Lionel. This class is slightly different from the cookie one I've attended with Valerie in the sense we have to weigh & measure our ingredients.

Valerie was excited at cracking the egg so I let her do the 1st one. Instead of cracking the egg, she went to crush the egg, splashing the egg whites all over the place! After that we proceeded to weigh the flour while Lionel weigh the sugar.

When it's time to mix the ingredients, Valerie wasn't interested coz she's afraid of the vibration from the mixer. Lionel was steady, holding onto it (with Yvonne) thru'out while Valerie went 'wild' running around *OMG*

Mid way thru the class, Yvonne & Lionel had to leave due to some urgent matters at home. So HB sat in to let decorate the cupcakes. Our cupcakes didn't turn out as well. The centre sank almost immediately after they were taken out from the oven. Violet explained that's because we mixed in too much air during the mixing step. *oops*

Valerie wasn't keen on anything until it's time to decorate the cupcakes. She was so excited with it that she kept holding onto the pipe and tell us pass her the cupcakes. I actually didn't realise that it's so difficult to do pipping! Violet did it with so much ease while HB & I struggled badly :p

Can you tell which one is done by Violet?

C... is for Cookie!

It's Valerie's first try at baking cookies. After seeing the pictures from Tigger's blog, I was very keen to bring Valerie to try out the Kids Can Bake! classes at Genius R Us, so I decided to join her for this cookie baking class.

When we reached the premise, Valerie was shy and didn't want to go in. She didn't want to wear the apron either! Thankfully we reached there early so there is time for her to slowly warm up to the environment.

When the class started, she was very excited, and try to do all the steps herself too. Of course most of the kneading & rolling was done by me but she has all the say as to which cookie cutter & toppings she wanted :-)

After the cookies were done, she hesitated a little when I offer her one. After one bite, she ran away with the cookie and asked for more! BTW, the cookies did taste quite nice!

Next lesson I'll be bringing her to make pizza! Hopefully aunty Violet will give me some discount if I sign up another 2 lessons coz S$60/lesson aint cheap!
