Frustrating Sunday!

Today we are supposed to goto a Temple in Geylang to pay respects to HB's grandparents. It's not the official ching-ming prayers for us yet. It's some other 'event'. We headed to Aljunied Market to have our breakfast before heading to the temple. When we reached there, it was a total chaos!

We were taken aback coz it was never this crowded before. Then we realised that alot of pple took the opportunity to go there for Ching Ming rituals. And the traffic inside & outstide the temple was just pure madness.

The narrow door way do have enough room for a 2-way traffic. But becoz a white Hyundai was parked at the door, it had been narrowed to a 1-car traffic. At one point in time.. tons of cars wanna exit the temple, causing us to be stuck outside (as well as other cars) and creating a jam outside.

I went in to survey the situation inside, seeing if there were lots available. There were and the inside was quite empty. I tried to ask a van politely if he could gave way for traffic to come into the temple before he try to move out since the traffice outside was already so jammed. As in ALL SINGAPOREANS, this man kept insisting that once he leave the temple, my car can come in.

Is he blind? Can't he see that the traffic outside is more chaotic than inside? In all logical terms, it make sense to allow cars to come in first to help ease the traffic outside! But knowing Singaporeans who are all in the "Me first" mentality, I gave up trying to talk sense into this man. There are at least 4 lots available inside the temple yet no space outside for cars to leave anyway! Frustrating!

Anyway, that episode aside.. Valerie & Huixin actually had 'fun' playing in the temple. See how sporting they are when I ask them to give me a funny face! Valerie was laughing so loud around the temple and I'm actually afraid she might wake up the gods!
Hahahaha!

Cleared!

It's Saturday! And we are definitely happy coz Thurs & Fri went without much event (ie Valerie did not develop any fever nor complain of mouth ulcers). We knew this was definitely a case of a HFMD scare and we are definitely delighted.

After going to CM to get her certified that she is fit to go back to school, we headed to AMK to try out the dim sum store recommended by Snack Attack 2. It's called 香港仔点心, located at Blk 151 Ang Mo Kio Ave 5 #01-3030 S560151.

When we reached there, we were surpised that the signboard says "Jia Hong Kong Dim Sum". We actually thot that there was a change in ownership! But based on the printouts still pasted onto the pillars, we were sure this is the one featured (wonder why the name is different).

We ordered some of the normal stuff, and the quality is not too bad lah. But still cannot compare to restuarant standard (e.g. Noble House or Fortunate or Bao Jing Tian). Price wise ok lor, it wouldn't say that it's cheap but not as expensive as restuarant also.

Will I go back there again? I guess the answer is "No" coz AMK is quite far from where we stay. :p

HFMD!

This morning Valerie woke up pointing to her mouth. At that instant, HB & I got quite worried coz there has been raising cases of HFMD. Thankfully HB is on leave today (coz my checkup will be at 1125am) so he will bring Valerie to see Chong Ming.

I've got an important meeting in office today with so I have to goto work (and so reluctantly as well). At around 930am, HB texted me saying that CM says it could be early signs of HFMD. My heart sank. I really didn't want Valerie to go through another round of that.. It was painful and draining for everyone, including Valerie herself.

HB said by Saturday will know.. and I'll pray hard that it's just a case of bad throat (like me) rather than HFMD.

Pasir Ris Park

It's a lazy Saturday morning and mama wanna laze around. But everyone was up early and eager to visit the Pasir Ris Park coz reviews said it was a fun place to be. It so happened the newspaper did a little introduction to the park so the desire to go is even stronger.

HB asked if I'm keen to go and I said I dun feel like venturing out so early. So HB instigated Valerie to ask me instead and my dear little girl.. came up to be and speak so ever sweetly "Mommy, gai gai please"
And I was like.. How could I say no?!?!? So off we went to Pasir Ris Park.
This is my gal.. happily & eagerly waiting for everyone to get into the car.

So when everyone was finally ready.. off we went! And gosh! We didn't realise that Pasir Ris park is this HUGE! Our 1st stop was obviously the wrong place coz that looks exactly like ECP, just less crowded. So we hop onto the car and went towards Elias Road.

We got into the 2nd portion of Pasir Ris park where kids can ride or feed horses there. Valerie was quite taken aback at the beginning at the sight of horses. But after a while she's ok. No touching though, she is not ready for that yet :p
So off we went again.. searching for the playground that was featured on newspaper. Finally we found it and yes.. the playground was HUGE! This is just one of them in the area and Valerie had quite alot of fun!
This is one playground we'll definitely come back to!

Good Friday!

It's Good Friday and mama wanna eat half boil egg! :p

So off to Yat Kun (Parkway Parade) we went.

We tried to offer her some eggs to try, but she wasn't interested. She tried tasting it but I guess she hasn't acquired the taste yet :p

So we offered her toast instead.. and oh man.. she sure loved the toast!

And she has fun doing other things tho... like spreading kaya on the french toast! BTW, she gobble down the french toast too!

Disney on Ice!

We went to watch Disney on Ice on 16th March. We originally intended to watch it on 14th since both of us were on leave. But I was still quite sick from my flu so HB bot the Sunday tix instead.

This is our 1st time going for such performance and is hoping that Valerie will enjoy herself. This is taken in McDonald's, where HB & I grab a quick lunch before heading for the performance.

We were glad that Valerie sat through and seemed to enjoy the performance. It was quite a good one, esp the "Under the Sea" segment where there were loads of starfish, jellyfish, mermaids etc skating around the ring.

The other segment that Valerie seemed to enjoy is the "Lilo & Stitch". She was so excited to see the aliens! She kept pointing to them and said "aliens! aliens!" hahahaha

Valerie got a new pair of Crocs!

We were quite apprehensive in buying her new shoes coz we could never get her to try any in the shopping malls. We are not sure why, but she'll scream and cry if we try to get her to try shoes. So we gave up.

Seeing that she is outgrowing her cayman, we decided to buy her another pair (crossing our fingers & toes that she will not reject it). So I got her a pair of Yellow Disney Cayman from the BP.

Thankfully she is willing to wear them! But they were too big! She looked like Ronald McDonald wearing them! hahahaha

And guess what? After that she kept insisting on wearing this pair! End up we have to hide it coz it's just way too big for now! :p

Oops.. I've been away for toooo long!

Oops, I've did it again! MIA for a good 3 weeks :p

Heehee.. coz I'm still 'suffering' from morning sickness lah. Doesn't help if the whole clan is down with flu. I'm still in the recovery mode. Doesn't seemed to be able to shake the sniffy nose away. Valerie still coughing periodically.

I'll just do some quick updates on what has happened lately.

Our first visit to T3

After coming back from our 'shopping' trip, we thought of resting at home and just pack some dinner back. But his parents told us that they are going to T3 with Pheng & her family and we thought since we haven't been to T3, maybe we can 'tag' along.

So off we went again! (but of course, after Valerie's & my nap :p)

I must say T3 sure looks H-U-G-E! We didn't managed to find any lots in B1 so we went to B2. Found a lot and went into T3. When we were inside, we saw the Kopitam from far. They have quite alot of chairs for pple to seat around (those chairs look quite designer too!)

As Pheng & family hasn't arrived yet, we sat around the cool looking chairs to wait for them. Father went ahead to chop 2 tables coz the Kopitam looked crowded! While Valerie & Kai Kai were fooling around the chairs, Valerie saw some kids holding onto balloons. And like bees to honey, she kept saying "bamoon.. bamoon" non stop.

Finally when everyone has arrived and we wanted to feed her the mee sua, she simply refused to eat. She kept saying "find bamoon.. find bamoon.." like a broken recorder.

No choice, we set off the find balloons. I saw that those kids were having Swenson's balloon so we decided to head straight to 3rd floor to get them. On the way, we bump into Jee Lien, Hwee Lim & Megan. Megan was v shy and she cried when we approached. We wld love to chat more with them but Valerie's persistent "find bamoon.." is a cue that we have to cut our conversation short!

When we reached Earle Swenson's we were horrified to see that they aren't the Swenson's who gave out the balloons! The kids prob got it from T2 or something. We didn't really know what to do so I started distracting Valerie with aeroplanes while scaning the area for balloons. I saw some from a distance and told HB to go check it out.

After a while I saw HB coming back with a balloon in his hands (so delighted!)

We were damn lucky. Got a bunch of teenage girls got some Singapore Flyers balloon from Orchard. Hearing that HB wanted a balloon for his little girl, the teenagers immediately gave him one.

Thank god man! After that.. the rest of the evening went smoothly :)

But at the end of it.. I'm dead tired!

Shopping trip!

Our coy has announced and given us our bonus. It's quite good :) Originally we thought it'll be worse than last year due to our weak share price and other internal factors. But I guess the management recognise our hardwork and decided to give the same bonus as per last year. :)

So we $$ on hand.. it's time to give myself a threat! :p *just joking*

Maggie had this friend who runs a jewellery biz. Supposedly designer inspired pieces at a fraction of designer prices. So we decided to pop over to her shop as well as utilise the $20 Din Tai Feng voucher Seng has.

Maggie's friend (Ivy) has a office in Ngee Ann City. After much waiting and browsing, I decided maybe I would want to have the same earrings Maggie & Hui has. It's a pair of hoop diamond earrings. It looks like this:

After discount.. S$2,380! Am not sure if she is going to add 7% GST on it man.. forgot to ask.

But quite buay gam wan coz Maggie's pair per diamond is bigger and she only paid S$2.5K. But of course, she bot them 2 years back lor.

Anyway Ivy asked me to goto her retail shop at Raffles City to have a look at other designs. I definitely will!
